Jason W. Hughes, Principal Email: jasonh@irvinghughes.com
Jason Hughes is co-founder and Principal of Irving Hughes.
Jason began his real estate career in the 1980's, working at Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Brokerage in west Los Angeles and later at the San Diego office of Grubb & Ellis Commercial Brokerage. There he represented downtown tenants and specialized in landlord representation, negotiating nearly 1 million square feet of high-rise office towers. In 1991, Jason joined a local tenant representation firm where he represented tenants in lease negotiations and served as a consultant to select tenants nationwide.
Recognizing a need in the San Diego commercial real estate industry, Jason joined Craig Irving in 1993 to create Irving Hughes with the goal of starting a company committed to advancing the level of brokerage services offered to tenants and buyers in San Diego County.
Over the years, Jason has transacted leases and purchases for more than 8 million square feet. His experience includes negotiating leases, early renegotiations, high-rise office and condominium building purchases, participating loan structuring, lease and loan workouts, government negotiations and project financing. His expertise and tenacity has helped Irving Hughes strengthen its dominance of the downtown commercial real estate market.
Jason has a BS in Business Administration from Pepperdine University and an MBA in real estate finance from the University of San Diego.
Jason is currently on the Board of Directors for San Diego based Torrey Pines Bank, the Downtown San Diego Partnership (including the Executive Committee), the San Diego Children's Museum and the Rancho Santa Fe Community School Endowment. He has previously been a board director on the business council for the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art and the San Diego Opera. He was an elected official of the Downtown Project Area Committee (the City of San Diego's public arm of their redevelopment agency). He has previously served as a director of the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation, president of the Pepperdine Alumni of San Diego and has been involved with the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation and San Diego Cares.
Jason, his wife Shay and their three children live in Rancho Santa Fe.
